Director of Development

The purpose of Development is building a sustainable support base for a school’s Christ-centered mission through strong relationships with individuals, foundations, churches, and others to provide prayer support, funding, volunteerism, and goodwill. Optimal advancement of Wooster Christian School’s (WCS) mission occurs when the fund development activities take place in the context of school wide relationship building with prospective parents, current parents, donors, volunteers, alumni, and the community.

Responsibilities

•  Act as an expert development resource to the board.
•  Participate in the board’s Resource and Development, and Publicity committees.
•  Maintain effective working relationships with the WCS staff and faculty.
•  Enlist and train key volunteer leaders (including the board) in seeking support for the school and

    for carrying out advancement plans.
•  Plan, organize, and promote all programs in light of biblical principles for stewardship and

    fundraising.
•  Provide spiritual leadership to garner prayer support.
•  Prepare, in conjunction with the Administrator through the Resource and Development and

    Publicity committees, the advancement plans and budgets, which include fund development,

    public relations, and admissions.
•  Plan, implement, and promote an annual fund through various means of solicitation.
•  Partner with the administrator in donor cultivation and relations.
•  Oversee gifts of cash, appreciated assets, in-kind gifts, deferred giving and others; this includes

    giving donors appropriate acknowledgment, receipting, and recognition.
•  Oversee a database to track all relationships, such as those involving donations, pledges,

    alumni, and prospective students.
•  Promote the school through the development of appropriate marketing tools, including

   advertising, brochures, and website.
•  Coordinate with Administrator to communicate development activities to parents, faculty, and

    staff.
•  Plan, promote, and implement programs to build strong relationships with churches,corporations,

    and foundations in the community
•  Assist the Administrator in promoting a comprehensive brand for the school.
•  Cultivate appropriate media attention to the school.
•  Plan, promote, and implement a mission-driven student recruitment program.


Employment Details

•  Report directly to the Administrator.
•  Employed for the period of time stated in the contract by the WCS Board.
•  Salary determined by the WCS Board.

Qualifications

•  Be committed to Christian education.
•  Have a strong Christian testimony, and an ongoing effort to grow spiritually.
•  Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•  Be a self-starter.
•  Be a person who is motivated by challenges.
•  Preferably have prior experience and/or a bachelor’s degree in
marketing, communications, or

    finacial systems.
